The Wave

Last November I was lucky enough to travel to Hawaii with my wifes family. It is an interesting place with lots of contrast and amazing weather. When I was there I knew I wanted to take a photograph of some waves but I wasn't sure how or when as the weather in Hawaii is pretty unpredictable. The following shot was taken on a beach near Kaanapali on Maui island. I think it captures the ferocity of the waves nicely agaisnt a moody sky and I think the bathers help give it some scale. It was taken at ISO100, 112mm Equivilent, f/11, 1/8 sec, on a tripod using manual settings and a remote trigger. I also used a polariser, and ND filter. Some slight adjustments in Lightroom where applied, the biggest being increasing the brightness of the forground.
